چکیده
A small library of oligoarginine peptides equipped with terminal cysteines was studied with respect to their cell-penetrating properties. The peptides themselves were inactive but gained the ability to enter cells upon extension of their sequence through disulfide bridge formation.

Cell penetrating and transytosing peptides: powerful strategies for oral insulin delivery
Insulin is essential for type 1 and advanced type 2 diabetes to maintain blood glucose levels and increase the patient’s longevity. Frequent subcutaneous insulin injections are usually associated with pain, local tissue necrosis, infection and nerve damage. Recently, a number of new delivery methods such as oral insulin delivery have been developed to overcome these limitations and increase pa...
متن کاملSmall efficient cell-penetrating peptides derived from scorpion toxin maurocalcine.
Maurocalcine is the first demonstrated example of an animal toxin peptide with efficient cell penetration properties. Although it is a highly competitive cell-penetrating peptide (CPP), its relatively large size of 33 amino acids and the presence of three internal disulfide bridges may hamper its development for in vitro and in vivo applications. Here, we demonstrate that several efficient CPPs...
متن کاملDiamido Complexes of Titanium and Zirconium as Catalyst Precursors for Ethylene Polymerization
A series of 8 new complexes of titanium and zirconium with diamido ligands bearing an ethylene and propylene bridge between the two amido groups were synthesized and tested for ethylene polymerization. Titanium complexes bearing an ethylene bridge between the two amido groups showed higher activities than the derivatives with a propylene bridge. In the case of the zirconium complexes, the p...
متن کاملDesigning and analyzing the structure of Tat-BoNT/A(1-448) fusion protein: An in silico approach
Clostridium botulinum type A (BoNT/A) produces a neurotoxin recently found to be useful as an injectable drug for the treatment of abnormal muscle contractions. The catalytic domain of this toxin which is responsible for the main toxin activity is a zinc metalloprotease that inhibits the release of neurotransmitter mediators in neuromuscular junctions. A cell penetrating cationic peptide, Tat, ...
متن کاملIdentification and characterization of a new family of cell-penetrating peptides: cyclic cell-penetrating peptides.
Cell-penetrating peptides can translocate across the plasma membrane of living cells and thus are potentially useful agents in drug delivery applications. Disulfide-rich cyclic peptides also have promise in drug design because of their exceptional stability, but to date only one cyclic peptide has been reported to penetrate cells, the Momordica cochinchinensis trypsin inhibitor II (MCoTI-II). M...
